In other news, we’re pleased to announce the reason we’ve been somewhat off the radar for the past couple of months… we’ve been recording a new album! Entitled State of the Union, the album will feature 12 new Rivergods tracks recorded at PWOP Studios in New London by producer Carl Franklin. We’re looking at a late January release… details very soon. In the meantime, how about a preview?

We’re excited to be back in Chester on Saturday, April 30 as part of the 3rd Annual Music Festival & Duck Race! Woo hoo! It’s a 3-day affair, with lots of beer, bands and fun, but we’re excited to be playing Saturday evening RIGHT after the race (which starts at 4:15) at the Pattaconk 1850 Bar & Grill (33 Main St, Chester, CT) from 5-8ish. No cover, great food and atmosphere! More info here.

Were back in action and excited to make our debut at Daddy Jack’s, a wonderful downtown New London restaurant that’s starting to make it’s mark featuring great live music along with its scrumptious food and incredible atmosphere. This show will mark the debut of our talented new bass player, Mark Gehret, and is also a bit of a birthday celebration for Ben! There’s no cover, either, and did we mention the food?!? Good times will be had… Come to eat, drink and enjoy the show! More info here.

Happy New Year!

Greetings from the now-frigid Connecticut shoreline… While the weather is cold, things are simmering for the Rivergods!

We closed out 2015 with a fun holiday acoustic show at Old Orchard Farm barn (a couple of videos below) and are looking forward to finishing up recording on our follow-up to Never Grow Old over the next few months, while also lining up some fun dates for the Spring/Summer.

In the meantime, Ben and Nancy will perform at the Hygienic Hootenanny on Friday, January 29 at 33 Golden in New London, CT as part of the 37th annual Hygienic Art Show opening weekend.

Stay warm out there!

But the GOOD news is we’re working on a bunch of new studio tracks with “Never Grow Old” co-producer Dennis Walley, and they’re sounding good! (That’s Nancy above, laying down some sweet vocals…) We’re also going through some live stuff we recorded this summer, for a possible online release (official bootleg??) We’ll see. Here’s a taste from our August show at Ocean Beach this summer… enjoy:

We won’t call it an ‘end of summer’ show…. no, we won’t! Let’s just call it an annual summer sunset celebration Friday, August 21st at Ocean Beach Park. We’re working up a great set list for the show… It’s always a fun time, and the talented Dennis Walley always makes us sound good for the big shows. PLUS, THIS JUST IN: Special guest Ramblin’ Jack Rollins will open the show. If you never saw Bob Dylan at age 21 (neither did we!), this is about the closest you’re going to get. Hope you can join us! More info here.

August shows and Dana’s birthday

On Saturday, August 1, Rivergods’ violinist Dana Takaki will be celebrating a milestone birthday (we’ll let you ask her which one…) with a big musical party atCaptain Scott’s Lobster Dock in New London! The Rivergods will be kicking things off at 2pm with a solid hour-or-so set, followed by some of Dana’s other distinguished musical partners: Hugh Birdsall (Dogbite), Ear Candy for the Soul, Rachel and Zac, and Old Dog New Trick. Should be a great time… come out for some great food and music. Let’s see how long Dana can keep that bow bowing….

As a preview to Dana’s birthday bash, Ben, Hugh and Dana will do a short Lunch Break Live set for The Day Thursday, July 30 at Hygienic Art Park at noon. Free show, and there’s food and beverages available for purchase at the Park. Read more about here, and if you can’t join us in person, check it out online at theday.com.

Lots of other big and small shows on the horizon for August, too, some farmer’s market acoustic duos/trios, our debut at the Hamburg Fair in Lyme, CT and our annual Ocean Beach show, too. (Whew!) Check out the deets on our shows page.
