Saturday night 1/31 in New London Rock City! Rivergods on at 8:30pm sharp. More info
Wishing everyone peace and love this time of year… our world surely needs more of both right now. The Rivergods won’t be doing our annual holiday show this year, but for good reason… we are busy prepping some new music for 2015! January will bring a brand new Good Sponge Sampler, which we’ll have a track on, and there will be more music from us sometime after! It’s all in progress — more on all of it as it evolves — as always, though, you can find the latest Rivergods’ news, photos, etc. on our Facebook page.
Happy New Year, and we’ll see you in 2015!
Thanksgiving Eve (Wednesday, Nov. 26) we’ll be back at one of New London’s best-established watering holes, The Bulkeley House. Your friends coming home for the holidays? Join us upstairs. 8pm, no cover… alright! More info here.
We had another great show at the Old Orchard Farm Barn on Saturday, Oct. 11. Thanks to everyone who came out… it was a rockin’ full house! In case you missed it, here’s a few videos from the night:
Back at the barn! The Rivergods return to Old Orchard Farm Saturday, Oct. 11 for what promises to be an autumn classic. 7:30pm… we’ll be bringing new material and serving up some of our favorites, too! The Old Orchard Farm barn is one of our favorite listening rooms in the region, and we’re sure their fall cider is going to be a-maz-ing! BYOB/Potluck, $10 per person. More info here.

Here’s a couple of vids from our show Friday 7/18 at Old Orchard Farm in East Lyme, CT. A beautiful room, a great crowd and some delicious farm-made ‘cider mead’ contributed to an absolutely wonderful evening.
We’re super excited about this one! A very special summer evening concert and potluck at one of the region’s finest listening rooms, East Lyme’s Old Orchard Farm barn. If you’ve never seen a show there (or the new Rivergods line-up) you’re in for a treat. 7:30pm showtime, $10 person/$15 couple. BYOB and potluck. More info here.
The Rivergods took home the People’s Choice Award for ‘Best Country Rock Act’ at the 2014 Whalie Awards, held in New London, CT on Saturday, June 7. Thanks so much to everyone who voted for us… we are quite honored! Congrats to all of our fellow nominees, many of whom we are good friends, and play often, with. More info on the Whalie Awards here.
In other news, the new line-up debuted to great reviews with a stellar 10-song set earlier this week, kicking off The New London Day’s first outdoor Live Lunch Break summer series! Check it out here. (Due to a recording glitch, there’s some occasional technical talk over the first song and half or so, but after that, it’s smooth sailing!)
Lastly, if you haven’t, check out our summer calendar! We’ve got some great shows lined up… see you soon!
And the positive reviews keep rolling in… we might have a sleeper hit here, folks! Check out the links below and get yer copy of Never Grow Old today… $4, y’all!
“I haven’t been to New London… I didn’t think it had much going for it until I encountered The Rivergods. The band, led by husband/wife duo Ben and Nancy Parent, has been around the block a few times… their most recent 4-song EP packs a punch… sun-faded, nostalgic, wistful … My favorite is “Rush Hour,” but don’t take my word for it. Choose for yourself.” —Adobeandteardrops.blogspot.com
“Connecticut’s own Americana/Roots rockers The Rivergods return with a 4-song EP entitled “Never Grow Old.” The songs show enormous growth in the song-writing and musicianship. The album opens with the uptempo sway of “When Times Were Good” that contains a chorus that gets stuck in your head. The title song is where the heart of the album lies as Ben Parent sounds like a younger Elvis Costello with his band supporting his every move. The Rivergods finish up with the attractive roots rocker “Rush Hour” that brings everyone together in creating a touching piece of music. —http://jpsmusicblog.blogspot.com
“(Never Grow Old) has continuity, yet, each song has it’s own personality. The common thread is the quality of the writing, instrumentation and arrangements… (“When Times Were Good)” has a hook that goes inside your ears and makes itself at home… I found myself singing it throughout the day. The title track “Never Grow Old” begins on a mellow, Bob Dylan-esque note with acoustic guitar and harmonica. Here again, the chorus is contagious! … It’s obvious that Ben Parent has a poet’s soul, leaving some things to the listener’s imagination. I truly enjoyed this recording… It left me wanting more! —Soundwaves Magazine
