PettyPalooza returns Sept. 25!

We’re honored to be back at PettyPalooza III, which takes place outdoors Saturday, Sept. 25 at the beautiful Hygienic Art Park in downtown New London, CT. Also on the bill are Jack Thistle, and Learning to Fly (a true TP tribute band!) We’ll kick off the show doing a set of Tom tunes our way... hope you can join us; these shows have been outstanding in the past. Long live Tom’s legacy… more details here!

‘At Home Sessions’

We’re not about to let a little something like a global pandemic stop the music from flowing!

Ben and Nancy continue to write and demo new material, and have been dropping new songs periodically on the Rivergods’ Soundcloud page. These are not just acoustic demos, but arranged and mostly-realized songs (drums, instruments, etc). Head on over to enjoy them and follow the page to hear the new tunes as they arrive!

As always, the best way to stay current with the Rivergods is our Facebook or Instagram pages.

We hope everyone is safe and healthy, and wish you all the best for the holidays and 2021! Here’s hoping live music comes back soon.

Cheers-
The Rivergods

The Rivergods to release pandemic-era album “Passages” Friday, Aug. 28

There’s a press release, so it must be official! 😉

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – AUG. 19, 2020

New London, CT, USA — The Rivergods make a full return to their roots on Passages, their seventh studio release, following up 2017’s State of the Union. Passages will be released Friday, August 28 for streaming and download on all major music platforms including Spotify, ITunes, Pandora, Google Play, YouTube and bandcamp.

From the anthemic opening chords of “Tropical Depression” to the traditional country lilt of “Breakfast in Bed” to the Stones-y bar romp of “Yankee Rant (Stay),” Passages covers a wide terrain of Americana, rock and country music territory. Passages features nine new original Rivergods’ songs, and closes with their first-ever studio cover on one of their own albums, a haunting take on Neil Young’s “On the Beach,” sung by vocalist Nancy Parent.

Passages was recorded at PWOP Studios in New London, CT by producer Carl Franklin, who also was at the helm for 2017’s State of the Union. Recorded live in the studio in 2019 with minor overdubs in early 2020, mixing was done sporadically and remotely throughout the spring/summer of 2020 due to COVID-19.

The Rivergods have continued to grow musically, putting out their trademark brand of roots rock/Americana music since 1997, yet have managed to stay true to the heart of the music that continues to inspire them. Husband/wife vocal team of Ben and Nancy Parent bring an intimacy to their musical pairing that can perhaps be only achieved through marriage or another familial bond. While currently not playing live due to COVID-19, the Rivergods shine just as bright as live act, and look forward to returning to the music stage as soon as safely possible.

Dancin’ in the Pollen!

RGnew

Greetings, all. Hope you are surviving the “new normal”… it’s certainly put a damper on most musical outfits we know. Many of our shows for the early summer have faded… stay tuned for a better idea of what’s still happening in the weeks to come.

In the meantime, enjoy this recent video featuring a six-pack or so from the Rivergods’ first in-person rehearsal in many moons, due to COVID-19. Did we remember all the chords?? Maybe! Anyway, we can’t wait to see you all again somewhere down the road…

New Rivergods music… “Yankee Rant!”
